The only reason that's not working yet is it wasn't a priority. It did work in UU, after all.
Right now I can set up the game, get suited and walk up to the wall.

I've made the Wall a big priority myself. As Chacal stated, I can suit up, set the wall, get to it, but the moment I start to climb I crash. It's obviously some problem in the client code though. Which we need the source for. I think the wall needs to seriously come back. Now it can.

If Cyan do release the code to us in full, pretty soon, it will seriously aid a lot of things I am doing/planning. One in particular. I can't imagine how they're going about this but I think the time for a Q&A is now. :)

Something to think about...

The GoW is all about Ages; building them and developping the associated tools. So Client/Server development doesn't strictly fit in the goals of the Guild. That said, since this is where there is the highest concentration of coders and people experienced with Plasma, then this is very likely that stuff will happen here (among other places).
Maybe a more central place to discuss development work and all things OSMOUL would be useful? (OpenUru.org or else)

Right now we just lack too many crucial information to make any informed decision..

That'd be welcome that's for sure. But we're nearing the holiday season, so I wouldn't expect anything 'big' (QA or actual files) before january now.

I'd like to have several questions answered by Cyan myself soon:

Many of the shards right now (Dickens group, and several others, including a couple I belong to), are running on Alcugs or modified UU. Will they want to swap over to the version that Cyan is presenting (I would think so)?

Also, those shards have more than just Drizzle converted MOUL files. They also have converted Myst V Ages on them. Cyan is open sourcing Myst Online....I didn't see anything about open sourcing Myst V...... Will they allow that? Part of me thinks no, but it would be good to know.

The GoMe is trying to set up a meeting for all the Guilds (Trylon started a thread here, but it's up there in admin and you can't reply to it) to find out how each guild can help, both in indipendent shards and a larger MOOSE (Myst Online Open SourcE ......thanks Boblishman! I thought this was the best name! hehehehe).

The Maintainers have already though of ways we can help: Have our own seperate shard that we use to help for testing in a multiplayer enviroment. Fan Ages, Mods, etc, etc. And we can finally realize our dream: Testing Ages TOGETHER as a group, instead of each us off line. At the same time we have our sleeves rolled up and ready to help where we can, depending on the needs of people and groups. We'll being having our own Guild meeting to help talk about ideas from our members, find out what they would like, and how they want to help, etc. Of course more info from Cyan would help too.

I'd like to see the Plugin being worked on again. I know some of y'all have been busy running your shards and other tools, but we do need more work done on the plugin. We've seen no new version since July. I'd personally would be grateful if I could put in particles and use plLayered and Global animations through Blender and the Plugin......not hacking with LibPlasma. Using LibPlasma has helped, but that's not for everyone, and you'd have MUCH better control if you could work in Blender to set your things up like this.

Mostly I just would like to see people working together. Not fighting. Now power grabbing. Not Shard empire building. There have been a lot of people at each others throats going all the way back to the days of UU.......can some of you drop your grudges? Drop your hate? Drop things enough to work together? Sort of like:

"Make Shards, Not War!"

My thoughts anyways. Now I have to go get our Christmas tree......

I'd like to second what Andy said.

Cyan's announcement is a good one -- and rather clever. It cuts across differences and concerns that have developed even recently, and hopefully enables a fresh start in building and maintaining good working relationships.

To that end, I'd like emphasise that the Guild of Maintainers is there to help test out things. People are coming forward with experience of testing both Ages AND server based stuff, so we will be able to offer a range of services along those lines.

Looking forward to continuing to work with you all.

I can imagine a scenario in which the GoW are running development shards and the GoMa has testing/rehearsal shards. Both guilds can have a role on the server side. That is the good thing about all of this. :)

Yeah, I hope that the Guilds will be able to support and aid each other, and that no Guild feels threatened by the existence of another Guild, but that each Guild experiences the advantages of working together with the other Guilds.

"Guilds" almost equals "community", and the more the Guilds help each other and discuss with each other, the more the end product (Uru) will meet the wishes of the entire community. :)

I look forward to it all and will help when I am able to.

I really think that if the guilds co-operate to provide a shard for core experience, we can have a strong base for continuation.

Based on the bits of information Chogon gave about the scalability of the server (MOUL forums), I think it could be possible that many home-users with a static ip address can contribute to the server, by simply installing a small server application. If many among the guilds are running these "splinter" servers, it could reduce server costs.
One day I ran through the cleft for the fiftieth time, and found that uru held no peace for me anymore.
