Inter-Guild Cooperation MOOSE

Postby Nalates » Sat Dec 13, 2008 12:19 pm

There is another thread on this topic but I cannot post to it... as several others are complaining they cannot.

There is an idea for the guilds to unite to provide a cannon pure shard. I think this is probably one of the more IMPORTANT facets of this new Uru age and has considerable community backing. So, we need a thread out in the open where anyone can post.

Also, I have been approached to join a coalition of Guilds that would have a 'private thread' (all read few post) for discussing the direction of OSMOUL development. I support the coalition but not the 'private thread' idea.

If there is already an open thread on Inter-Guild, please add a link here.

And in the thread I linked to, please make it open to posting OR link to this or whatever thread is open so we can get more people participating in this idea.

I think there should also be a way for people who do not want to represent any Guild, like me, to take part in such a meeting. We could also help the admins managing the Shard and support them with our knowledge. But on the other hand I don't really consider myself a Writer, or Maintainer or whatever, nor am I an Ink Maker since I do not develop PyPRP or another age writing tool.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

I moved the discussion over to the MOUL forums already, I of course just assumed that people would find it there, but we all know what happens when we assume.

Here is the link.

I apologize for the confusion.

Thanks, Bad!

diafero, many share your thought, which is why I want open discussion. I've been PM'ing and doing what I can to get the limited thread here opened up. Bad has moved it to MOUL, so that is handled.

I have never seen a guild close anyone out. Well... except in may be some guild elections. People that want to participate simply participate. Guild membership has little if anything to do with participation. Thinking one must join a guild to participate is a mistake and just not so.

For instance the GoC does maps, actually it was the first catchall guild in Prologue/LIVE days. Fans did all sorts of things not just maps. The goal was to help the community enjoy Uru and there was a need for maps to aid in communition. Anyone could draw a map of any age they wanted. GoC membership had nothing to do with what they did. The GoC could not stop them. For a short time there was a map approval process that ran through Aden. But, even that could not stop someone from doing a map as they choose. The basic process for getting a map put on the GoC Tech Data site is my becoming aware of it and being able to get permission from the creator. I can't nor would I want to prevent anyone from drawing a map of any age. So, guild memberships while encouraged, are not a requirement. Often not even for discussing policy within the guilds.

That's the thing, it's not a private forum. It's read only for those who are not Guild Representatives because we wanted a place for the reps to go to discuss things without being distracted by the rest of the forum.

The reason we have reps is because we could not get a reliable voting body on the forum. People come and go here and most don't even consider themselves members of the guild. That's fine, but when it comes to making important administrative decisions, we are stymied.

SO now we have representatives that is perfectly open to join. We require that you be available in a reasonable amount of time so that when we put a vote up you are around for it and we get an honest tally on the issues.

Many people missed the restructuring we wnet through to get this approved which also was a huge pain because the failing of the old system.

So again sorry about the confusion. :P

See my sig. Yeah... the ink-makers aren't really a guild right now in the sense of the GoW (they have no website or forum by that name).

More of just a verbal category than a physical one if you kinda know what I mean. We are whoever you happen to see a tool written by.

Joining them involves working on some form of age-creation tool. ;)
We code by the light of the moon and make odd howling sounds when our code crashes. ;)

Ah, I got a bit carried away with humor here. :P
Currently getting some ink on my hands over at the Guild Of Ink-Makers (PyPRP2).
