Something seems awry here. I understand the need for a certain amount of gatekeeping, but at the moment it looks excessive if good, contributive people like Tomahna Guy have previously fallen foul. Or was it just a screw-up with coding the forum? (!)

BAD wrote:Councilors as a group will be approving Reps. That's three opinions factoring into the decision. The decision is ... going to be based on if the person ... is not just trying to cause trouble.

I can see a possible problem here. If the majority of councillors are known to be drawn from a particular faction/viewpoint/group, will the wider community feel able to trust that their applications will be handled impartially?

For the councillorship itself, has the need for people skills been considered?

Leadership is not just about having excellent technical skills, planning, leading and controlling projects, standing up for your particular group.

It also involves serving the community, welcoming, encouraging, team building, recognising and respecting the contribution of others, and a willingness to work with other groups and individuals as co-equals.

The person I was hoping to nominate has a very good mix from both skill sets and a proven track record.

If you go back to the start of this thread you will find a very early post where I enquired about my voting posting status on the nomination thread. Now I was told that it was something Kato had to sort when he appeared well he's been and gone and I still can't post. :?

Have I been black balled?

I don't think I can be considered as a casual visitor. :D

In desperation I have posted an unbiased dig at BAD by PM to BAD and have asked him to post it on the thread consider it as a test of his integrity.

Dot,

I find it interesting that you assume that Kato, Hoikas and I all come from one view point. I would be very interested to hear what exactly you believe our view points are.

BAD in this very post wrote:I also am a bit concerned that you not only haven't said who this mysterious other candidate is, but seem to ignore my request completely. If you missed my question, then I'll post it here again.

Would you mind telling us who you had in mind, as I believe many people are curious who else would be qualified to hold the position?

I just realized that I didn't ask you the question in the quote in this thread, nor did I give you any time to OK with the person you were going to nominate about revealing themselves. Sorry for jumping the gun.

BTW,

TomahnaGuy is activated as I can see his name in the Groups list. Now to kick Kato and have him activate J'kla. :)

Here is the list so far: memberlist.php?mode=group&g=33

EDIT: J'kla is added.

I had to edit this post for making an error. I have been having some RL problems and it appears a consequence is I am missing things.

To repeat what I wrote in the "Time to do this" thread:
There are several others I know of who would be qualified for this type of position -- people like Jennifer_P, Robert the Rebuilder, Trylon, Aloys to name but a few.

People who have demonstrated their technical and artistic skills in Age building.

People with a track record of team building and working with others as a team, encouraging others to take part, welcoming and supporting newcomers, respecting and appreciating others' skills.

And people well respected across the whole community.
