Uru in widescreen

Postby Jamey » Tue Dec 23, 2008 6:19 pm

Hey all,

I'll just get right to the question. was wondering if there was a way to mess with Uru's game files in Plasmashop or something like that, to get Uru to be displayed in Widescreen resolution? (like the highest resolution MOUL had rather than the 1024x768 standard.)

Thanks!

You can, but there's a reason why widescreen resolutions aren't offered by UruSetup. They aren't supported, and I think attempting to use the causes some weird bugs (so I have had people tell me), so I just run Uru windowed.

bugs? do you know anything specific in terms of the bugs caused by it such as lag bursts or other things it may cause? and in order to make it widescreen, is it just a matter of toying with Plasmashop, or is it more complicated than that?

Make a backup of your dev_mode.dat, then just try changing the settings with Plasmashop!

u sure that file is supported by Plasmashop? I tried opening it with plasmashop, and apparently plasmashop didn't like it & kept attempting open it over and over a again until I had 50+ Plasmashop applications running X_X

No idea. Mine doesn't do that.

ok, downloaded newer version of Plasmashop and opened up the file, and applied the changes I wanted, then hit the save button. However when I start up Uru, it does not apply those changes I made, did I miss a step?

Here is what I did, and it appears to have worked.

Using plasmashop edit the dev_mode.dat like Chacal said.
You will see (custom) as one of the options of resolution. Type in the resolution you would like as well as 16 or 32BPP. SAVE

Then in your desktop shortcut type in "-iinit To_Dni" without the quotes.

ex.
"C:\Program Files\Ubi Soft\Cyan Worlds\Myst Uru Complete Chronicles\Uru.exe" -iinit To_Dni

What this does is bypasses URUsetup since it will try to override the changes you just made to the custom resolution.
(and since URUsetup was bypassed, you will want to make sure you already have a character in progress!)

Run and hopefully enjoy :)
