Door animation problem

Postby Shoggoth » Mon Feb 02, 2009 10:05 pm

I know there's a simple solution to this, but Blender's interface is thwarting me yet again. I've got a door object animated, but my Age has quite a lot of doors and most of them look the same, so understandably I duplicated my single door object using Shift+D and put the duplicates in the right positions. Unfortunately, I think the LocX, LocY, and LocZ in my Ipo window all still refer to my original door mesh, because every frame has the other doors magically teleporting back to the position of the original door. I suspect the problem lies in the way I'm duplicating the door, but I'm not sure what specifically I'm doing wrong or how to fix it. Can anyone help?

put simply .... you need to make a new IPO curve for each of the duplicated doors (because their x,y & z positions are different to your original door).
when it comes to Age creation ... "DOH" seems to be my middle name...

Ha, I knew it'd be something obvious like that. Thanks.

If all your animation does is rotate the door, you can delete the x, y, and z IPO curves entirely...

No, they slide off to one side. Otherwise I'd have inserted a rotation keyframe. At least, I think that's how it works.
