Terrain Generator

Postby I.Brattin » Sun Mar 08, 2009 4:33 pm

I am always on the lookout for new software. Today I happened to find a couple free Terrain Generator. There not as good as Bryce but they are free.

Nem's Tools - Terrain Generator Can export this one as an OBJ file and import in Blender.

Terragen Have to export as a Lightwave file but still can import that file into Blender.

The reason I say there not as good as Bryce is cause their square meshes where Bryce can be shaped. But still since there free...

I tried both Bryce and Terragen for 3d landscaping, and found them both to be annoyingly unhelpful for doing certain things.

Just been playing around with another program that deals with height maps, that you can import and use with Blender

It allows for even finer detail while navigating in a 3D environment

I tried L3DT and for some reason when I exported from it and tried importing into Blender it crashed Blender.

Export from L3DT to Wavefront (.obj), then import that into Blender

I did export it as OBJ file and then that OBJ file crashed Blender.

Now after you said that you used it I went and had an another look. Not sure what I did the first time that caused the OBJ file to crash blender. But whatever it was it didn't reproduce itself as I managed to import the second time.

Weird.

Add a decimator on export from L3DT, maybe due to to too many triangles

Weird though
