Can you extract ABM from CC?

I've never played Uru: Ages Beyond Myst. I've only played Complete Chronicles and MOUL. Is there anyway to install just ABM with my CC installation discs? How's this for a crazy question? :D This time I want LESS Uru. :lol:

I really don't think it is possible to install only ABM from the CC disc, then again, I wouldn't know. I have ABM +POTS expansion.

Unless it gives you that option during the installation, I don't think it is possible. You could always buy just ABM. :D

If you can find the old UU patch, apply that, then copy the UruSetup.exe and sp.dll from a clean copy CC, you will have something similar to ABM. It would actually be Uru: Prologue Offline, but it works. I always used that method to test things like KI hacks back in UU.

Thanks, all. I just bought a brand new copy off Ebay for $8.95 US including shipping. On one hand I love that I found a deal. :) On the other hand I wish there was more demand for this title. :(

I had Uru ABM, downloaded the free To D'ni and bought POTS. The thing I like best about the Uru ABM installation is the Uru Live preview. When you install To D'ni it disables it, so give it a look.

Then several years later I bought Uru CC just to have it in that version, although I haven't done anything with it.

But then I have Atrus and Saveedro action figures from Myst III Exile. :roll:

People who bought Uru:CC don't know about the wait between ABM and To D'Ni.
Because I bought ABM a few days too late for Prologue, I had never seen the cavern.
So when I got the link to the balcony overlooking the hood, and the one overlooking the canyon, I had no idea what I was looking for. I thought it was just a backdrop, like the view from the Baron office.
Then on some forums I learned about the balcony jump, and after about 13867 tries I finally got it, and landed in the hood. That's when I realised it was real (such as it is) and that the canyon must be real too. I remember the hackles I got from exploring the hood, knowing I wasn't supposed to be there. And how puzzling the messages in the hood were (visitors? In my game?).

Months later came To D'Ni, which opened the cavern.

I found the patch online and tried this today in the misguided hope that I might be able to enter the Wall. :(
I also found the "To D'ni" expansion online. I'm looking forward to my copy of ABM arriving so I can see the progression of offline Uru.

You're going to have to modify the Garrison.sdl for that to work. Changing the grsnClimbingWallState to 1 should do it...

That did it! :D I've owned Complete Chronicles for four years and I'd never seen the wall up close except for fly mode. It's too bad I need an entirely separate installation of Uru just to see it, but I had a lot of fun with this today, even though it's not exactly a challenge when you set up both mazes. :roll:

Now the next obvious question, is there a no-cd patch that works for UU?
