Converting Myst 5

Postby Whit » Fri Jul 24, 2009 2:33 pm

Hi all,

I have been trying to use Drizzle 20 to convert Myst 5. I have let it do its “thing” for over 3 hours. How long does it take to convert?

It depends a lot on the speed of the computer, but for me, I think it is about 4 minutes. Is Drizzle responding at all? What is in the log box?

The log box is always blank. Once you start the convert, it locks up and you cannot stop or close it. Some time the Task Manager shows Drizzle not responding and have to use the Task Manager to reboot or use the reset button.

Downloaded both the Offline KI, Official No-CD patch and music from both Myst 5 & Uru cc into My Music sub-folder.

Do you have the dvd or cd version of Myst5, or do you have a downloaded version? Some people who bought the downloaded version have a problem, I know. Also, how much RAM do you have?

I have the CD version. The computer is an Intel P4, 2.8G w/2G in RAM and Windows XP Pro. Also re-downloaded & re-install both Java and Drizzle, no change!

I beleive that Windows XP PRO is a X64 bits version and that his problem might be related to the discussions we have seen on the Alcugs site and here.

Whit could well be the tester you were looking for. :D

Yes, it might be possible that Drizzle21 (which will be out soon) might fix this. It might also be a weird thing that doesn't affect anyone else, like maybe your Myst5 files got corrupted by a bad hard drive or something weird like that. Your computer is very fast and has tons of RAM, so that is not the problem.

The motherboard is ABIT VI7, socket 478; I think the CPU is a 32bit. I got it when Uru went live for the first time. Is more software I need to have?

From the Microsoft site:
How to determine whether a computer is running a 32-bit version or 64-bit version of the Windows operating system.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218

See the Windows XP section.

My favorite method is # 2
X86 = 32 bits
X64 = 64 bits

Results (for my french version)

I downloaded & installed Drizzle 18 and it worked. But, when in a Myst 5 age I end up at my desktop a lot. Sound decompresses and footsteps work fine. Could not find Drizzle 19. the CPU is a 32 bit (x86 base PC).
