Technical Blender Problem

Postby Perlenstern » Mon Oct 12, 2009 9:30 am

Hello all

I worked with Blender 2.49, Python 2.5.2, PyPRP1.5
For many month I worked with my old graphic card: nVidia Geforce FX 5200 AGP
Now I have a newer one: nVidia Geforce 6800Gt AGP

Now my Blender is very slow after putting in the new card. Where could be the mistake ?
Is Blender perhaps not compatible with that card ?

With that slowmotion I can't work on any age again. :( :( :(
Hope that anybody can help me with this problem.

Hi Perl...
First off, I would suggest you try the following:
Completely remove Blender (and any legacy folders) from your machine, and close down the machine completely. Restart the machine, and download and install Blender 2.49.
If you still have a problem, you could even try installing Blender 2.49b ... but you would also need to install the new Python (2.6) and YAML (see the wiki for full details).
I would also strongly recommend that you install the new PyPprp 1.6 (which has a new installation proceedure ... again, read the wiki).

I would seriously doubt that Blender would have problems with a newer graphics card ... but a pre-existing installation of Blender may have problems with your new display drivers (which I assume you have installed with your new raphics card). Removing and re-installing Blender may well fix this.

Good luck, (/me fingers crossed)
when it comes to Age creation ... "DOH" seems to be my middle name...

Thank for your answer. A new Installation of Blender didn't fix my problem.

It was may own mistake. I search for the driver on the nVidia site, but I never take care for wich cards it is. There are many cards with 6800, but they all have other letters behind. My card was not in the list.
So I take the driver fron the CD that comes with the card....and......take a look.....Blender is running fine.

Now I can work again in my ages...
