If you feel like you're up to the challenge of building your own Ages in Blender or 3ds Max, this is the place for you!

Importing ages

Blender used to be able to import ages using PyPRP but you needed to change some value to set the type it retrieved.

Has this been disabled or is there a new method? I am interested in looking at door mechanisms and some of the basic constructs cyan used I have some blender files I retrieved before I started age building but I had reduced PC memory in those days and It used to run out before I had done some ages.

I am also aware that age modification for distribution is a non starter but is this possible for CC Drizzle home use

Chloe and Race came up with a modified version of an older Pyprp which is able to import Cyan Ages.
I have it at home. Several Ages still require manual fiddling. Search for posts from Andy Legate about that.

Forget about exporting, though. Also this will only provide you with part of the clues for exploring mechanisms. The Blender file will give you object names, then you'll have to pry into the prp file using PageEditor.

As far as distributing goes, what you want to do is distribute your modifications so that those who want it can apply them. I recommend against distributing whole Ages.

My UruDistro utility will do exactly what you want, once I find the time and motivation to finish it.

I see distributing anything created by Cyan as a direct contravention of any respect I still hold for Cyan and I see no disrespect in looking at the background and underlying structure of Cyan's ages to see if I can find new ways to make an age that comes up to their established standard.

It was looking at Teledhan that led me to start the recent thread on a generic age.

if you want to lay a bricks and mortar wall it helps if you know how someone did it before. It also helps if you can take down part of that wall and build your own to see if yours works in the same way.

Now I know what to look for I will explore and hopefully find what I am looking for. Thanks for your help.
