FCAL timeframe

On August 20th, I sent an FCAL request for my first Age to legal_{AT}_cyan_com. This forum says that FCAL requests generally take a month or two for a response, but three months seems like a little too long. Is this still within acceptable deviations, or should I start worrying that I did something wrong?

I think you have every right to ask them again. Forward them your initial message, and acknowledge that things must be busy (what with getting MagiQuest out the door and all), but repeat your request.

By no means is it guaranteed that they'll reply. But showing them that you had previously sent a request helps.

I think it should more accurately read as "a month or two or four or never". It's not that you did something wrong (if you had, they would ask for more information or something). I'm not entirely sure, but I don't think even half of the Ages released have an FCAL, so I personally wouldn't worry about it. Indeed, depending on the content of your Age, you don't even need one.

I bothered as I wanted to follow Cyan's guidelines. Since then though I have pretty much changed my mind. I sent out my FCAL request back in like April. Never Ever heard back from them. Once I have my ages ready I will just go ahead and release.

Which may not be anytime soon since my primary vid card is toast, after only a year and it was brand new when purchase, and I am currently running an old 32mb card I had laying around.

Actually, even applying for an FCAL can be used against you in court. The plaintiff could then claim that even you thought you needed one. Perhaps it's best to word an FCAL application (if you decide to do one) as "I don't really need this from a legal standpoint, but in the interests of cooperation, I would like to request..." or something like that.

But yeah, I wouldn't bother even applying for one.

I'm not too sure what I want to do next about this. I did want to get an FCAL for cooperative purposes, and it seemed right, because the Age that the FCAL request concerned would in fact be a restored D'ni Age. I don't know if that makes an FCAL more important to have or not.

I am really disappointed that I haven't gotten approval by now, but I'm not ready to give up on the process altogether. I'd be willing to wait for about a month more, but after that my winter break from college starts and it'll be my only opportunity to do significant work on any Ages for a while.

When they do answer, they don't always as I have been waiting over a half a year for FCAL approval. But when they do answer it can be anywhere from a few days to a few months.
