Looks like adding a Turing test is not possible without a modification of the forum, or at least the files related to registration.

I checked to make sure before posting, I still have admin access to an old phpbb forum - why the owner never took it down after it went dead I don't know. Anyways looking at the backend I could see offhand no way to add it in the Admin control panel. Which is why I said it looks like adding such a test is not possible without modification of the forum itself.

Of course that forum could be older then this one, and the new ones may have the ability to add such a test I don't know.

That's correct.
There are some plug-ins that do that really well, circumventing the need to dwelve into the forum's files and code something new. I've no idea however if there are some for our specific version of phpBB.

Talk about WAY off topic. Today's spammer wrote the spam post entirely in Russian. I know I shouldn't have but out of curiousity I went to the website in the title. It is entirely in Russian also.

EDIT: If it makes anyone feel better, this last one has been active on a TON of boards this morning. I did a quick search for the user name and ALL of the places it posted were at roughly the same time on well over 20 message boards, and all with the same topic. This one was surely a bot.
