Did I read something in this that says anything about releasing the OS code? I read it as just starting URU Live again...must I again read between the lines?

Hello,

I'm hoping that Riven will be available by early summer at the latest. Uru Live, maybe within a month. Watch the Myst online website for updates. the rest of the Myst series get complicated fast due to technology issues and rights licensing. Not sure those will make it.

Thanks for you continued support.

tony

The wording IS a bit odd. Maybe the employees at Cyan use "URU Live" as an internal designation? My guess is he threw it in there just to see the aftermath in the forums! :D

I'm pretty sure he doesn't speak about the open source code. His mail is a reply to questions about the game, not the open source project.

That might just be possible.

I'm not surprised it's being called "Uru Live". I don't think Cyan (Rand) has ever truly embraced the idea of open source Uru. Perhaps MQO, iMyst, and GOG.com have taken them back to where they were in September 2008 before they announced the cancellation of MORE. I'm also wondering if there are plans to make Uru for the iPad. If this is the case, could we be seeing a new incarnation of Uru Live with updates and new ages?

I know that's a bit beyond "Cautious Optimism", but I can't help it. I started out thinking that this "leak" was B.S. and in two days I'm reduced to a drooling fanboy! What is this power that Uru has over me?!

Oh..that old news?...lol...That's the 'talk of the town'....

Just in case anyone that DOESN'T know Victor Laxman...

Victor Laxman (born: 14th June, 1958) received multiple Engineering Degrees from the University of Cambridge before joining the Royal Navy from 1978 to 1990. Victor first learned of the restoration efforts from Dr. Watson in early 1995 before joining the DRC from 1997 to 2004. After Dr. Watson left the DRC in 2004, Victor also became co-leader of the group until it disbanded due to a lack of funding. In December of 2005, Victor Laxman first approached the other DRC members about restarting the restoration efforts and joined the DRC once more in 2006. Unlike the other DRC members, Victor doesn't oversee any particular phase but is instead in charge of all aspects of restoring D'ni technology and in particular translating D'ni technology to English and making it work with human technology. Victor has heavily worked on the KI and related technologies, such as the Nexus and the Lattice.

Oh god, please not another attempt by Cyan to revive MOUL.
I'm not up to a 4th shutdown.

If anything, I don't think it'll really be a 'Cyan' attempt to revive Live, but more probably a first step in the direction of open source and finally giving the whole thing to the community..
Maybe.
Hopefully.
Pretty please with cherry on top.

We'll see. For now it's just a 'random DRC spotting'. Which is already pretty cool. :)
