The wording IS a bit odd. Maybe the employees at Cyan use "URU Live" as an internal designation? My guess is he threw it in there just to see the aftermath in the forums!

Or, if you read the source, it was the wording used in the question.

This shard of Cyan's doesn't really help much. There are already quite a few shards out there, and more complete content-wise than Cyan's can be. It's seems like a bit of a way of back-peddling out of open-sourcing Uru, to me. I guess we'll see in time, but this doesn't excite me in the least.

I'm not really excited about Yet Another Cyan Shard either. I'd be way more excited if we finally get some OS code. (Not that I ever held my breath for it, else I'd be dead by now )

I'll agree with Dustin on one point: if Cyan puts out a new Uru server as they seem to hint, then it should be irrelevant to the release of the OS code. Those two are supposed to be separate projects. But there is indeed a small risk that the new server pushes back the OS project because some of the ressources Cyan has will be busy with that server. (at least during the launch phase)
That's pure speculation at this point though. The only two known facts are:
1) Cyan is hinting at a relaunch of Live in some form
2) There is no known progress on the OS front.

Having the OS code would allow us to put together a new small shard, or even several, but certainly nothing as big as what Cyan can do with a large central and public shard.. (unless there's a bit of money involved to be able to maintain a large OS shard.)
