GoW neighbourhood in MOUL:Again

General debates and discussion about the Guild of Writers and Age creation

My opinion is that a hood would be a perfect place to post news and be the public face of the Guild. Guild members can then have their own accounts and their own neighborhood affiliations. If we want to meet there, make sure members have invites to the hood in case it drops off the Nexus. Personally, I like using the Writer's Pub sometimes.

Bleh. Horrible and empty place. Not even a window. Nothing to do.

I actually think we should take this as a challenge. As a Guild (rather than an unorganized mob as we usually are), we ought to open up some of the side rooms in our guild pub. Perhaps a balcony overlooking the city? An activity area? Might be a good way to nudge Cyan into allowing UCC in MOULa. If there is any interest in this, then we should consider setting up an "official" (or as official as it can be) Guild Project. Of course, building something that we can export to MOUL might be a slight challenge, but I'm sure we can come up with something.

Yes of course, the pub should in fact be linked to the neighborhood, and we should expand it. However the fact remains that it is a pretty bland place, whereas the hood is interesting, has varied areas, etc. In fact the pub should be a pub, a meeting and socializing place, and the hood should be expanded as a living place (with perhaps homes for members).

That said, in the meantime the hood is a good idea because explorers can actually see it in the nexus and come visit us, ask about the GoW, maybe start Writing. The pub is off-imits if you don't have the shirt.

Now that you've said that, you've made me think that having a few evangelists in Kirel where the shirts are handed out would be a good idea...

So stop giving me ideas

On a more serious note, I would like an invitation to the Bevin.

I'm personally up for the challenge of expanding the Guild Pub. I've had a few ideas worked out in my head for it. I was inspired some time ago to try and recreate the original couches that were supposed to be in the alcoves. Maybe put a couple of those in, the balcony as Hoikas suggested, and a heek table in another of the alcoves. I have the blend file for the Guild Pub already implemented so matching up any additions should not be a problem.

Homes sound like a good idea for the neighborhoods and we could bring in customization tools to allow Explorers to personalize their rooms. The improvements for the pub idea sound good and we really should look to bringing in a few heek table and perhaps with a little help from Cyan, develop another D'ni game to play. The Pubs themselves could also host fan ages that have been deemed the best by the majority of the community.

I won't be in game during the week-end due to the fact I'm completely reinstalling my main desktop PC. Moving from Vista x64 to Win 7 x64 on 2 new RAID drives. I'll send invites after that, if I can remember how.

Note: Eyesight, and especially the ability to see close-up, diminishes with age. Computer parts are SMALL, and it doesn't help when you've foolishly bought a trendy case that's entirely finished in matte black, interior and exterior.
Do your hardware modifications while you're still young, and outsource them when you get older.

Now if you'll excuse me, I gotta go find that elusive black screw that fell in the case.

I did this a couple of days ago... The screw was on the floor. I was running the vacuum cleaner right next to it. Good thing I stepped on it.

Is Chacal the only member of GoW Hood. I happened to notice it had fallen off the Hood list.
