Stupid Trojans

Wow I am already tired of these stupid trojans and antivirus. Got a new trojan very first thing when I turned on my computer, yes I don't leave it on overnight - can't afford too when last month's utility bill was over $300. It was one of those fake antispyware alert programs, this is the second time in the last month I have gotten one of those. McAfee found the thing and deleted the exe for it. But it didn't kill the process. I had to restart my computer to do that, and like last time upon reboot I found nothing worked. The nice little trojan deleted my exe associations in registry, forcing me to readd them to registry yet again.

Someone had mentioned he had stopped using McAfee and used Bit Defender. I think I may add Bit Defender and see if its any better. Really I would prefer a trojan be killed before it runs its program and frags my computer.

Will my problems ever cease.

No trojan this time, but at some point between last night and this morning. Both my Drizzle installation and my WIP (where I QA works so as not to mess up my primary install) installation of Uru have become corrupted, and I have no idea how. It was working last night just fine, this morning I go to run UruWIP and get that the files are missing or corrupted. So I tried copying my UruCC directory over my UruWIP, and still got that files are missing or corrupted. So I tried running UruCC and got the same error message as the other two times. Two different directories, albeit in the same root directory (C:\\Program Files\Cyan Worlds\), of the same game became corrupted at the same time, what are the odds.

I have yet to check MOULa, it's also in the same root directory, to see if its corrupted also.

Have you tried checking the drive integrity? How fragmented are your files?

I defragged my hd about 2 or 3 days ago. So it shouldn't have been that fragmented at all.

Still I don't see how that could have been the problem. The last time I had ran URUWIP was around 10pm CST Saturday night. I turned off my computer around 11pm, with $300 utility bill last month I can't afford to leave it on 24/7, and went to bed. I got up around Noon on Sunday that I started working on my age, and I think it was about 1pm (just before I last posted) that I ran Uru again.

Pretty much if it were fragmentation it occurred between 7am and 1pm Sunday, since it worked the day before. Thats kind of a quick fragmentation.

Anyways when I posted I went ahead and just reinstalled Uru.

Edit: Just ran the analysis for Defrag and it says don't need to defrag. In fact from what I see of the bar I can concur its good, It shouldn't need to be defraged again.

Well I am off for a few days, I am currently at the library. My Power Supply looks to have finally died on me. It keeps shutting off on me and the power led light blinks green afterwards.

I went ahead and ordered a new power supply, I hope like heck that was the problem anyways. I will see ya all later.

I have a .bkf file of several programs (including my hard drive) Uru Being one of them. in the past .................when I have had problems with Uru CC and varies patches I would just back up over the existing data or delete the contents of my Uru CC folder and load it up from the bkf file it takes 2 or 3 minutes. This way I always have a fresh copy of Uru CC or Uru live or what ever that I can load up in a fraction of the time it would normally take to load the same program from scratch. I don't really know much about computers comparison to most of the people here (heck if I did I would have already submitted my Relativity age for Drizzle distribution) but what I do know is usually the result of a problem I have experienced and comes in real handy in a pinch

I kinda knew that much, the dwg file is only 2.56 mg but I don't know enough about age creation to get Relativity off of a AutoCad file I can download it to a 3D studio file and load that onto Blender but unfortunately thats pretty much as far as I got until I find someone who wants to take it to the next level as far as lighting planes crash barriers Ext ext are conserned.

Just an update, the PSU I ordered last week has failed to arrive. USPS has no record of it being shipped. Usually that is an indication that it is either lost in the mail or truely hasn't been shipped. I asked for a refund and will try a different company to see if I can get one quicker.

I did open up the case and pull the memory and put them in one at a time this morning. I managed to get into Windows, something I have not been able to do for a few days. Till I load test to see if reseating the memory fixed the problem I am going to continue going to the library to check mail and such.
