Forum Software [Split from IC Site]

I was thinking of that too, then I found out that that black and dark red are the official colors of the D'ni GoW; which is why Dox(?) went with those.
But I find it a bit hard on the eyes at times, and I'm pretty sure it doesn't help our reputation of evil hackers. Some a little lighter might be welcome.

I have heard the site referred to as a "Vampire's Lair", so I'm definitely up for some changes.

I know a lot of people also prefer a lighter scheme (which is why prosilver is an option). It would be nice to get a theme that has both light and dark versions.

I actually like this theme at times... It's just a PITA to maintain. Then again, phpBB3 is becoming more of a chore to maintain. I don't really know that I want to shell out $150 for Invision Power Board or $190 for vBulletin... Especially when we're already well established on phpBB3. Though I do hear really good things about IP.Board support.

vBulletin FTW.
With REAL admin options.

The vB CMS has me interested... Still, the cash is not present. I like free.

Personally, I can't stand vBulletin, but Invision Power Board forums are nice enough...
Hms, I might have to look at licensing options, then...

EDIT: let me clarify, I'd be fairly happy to shell out to support the GoW, at least if I think its worth it =P

EDIT2: Let me clarify the clarfication =P this is a tentative offer, I'm still looking into it. =P

EDIT3: hms, expensive... maybe not.

I stopped using Invision, didn't agree on the pricing seems a tad overpriced to me. Never took to VBulletin either so I used PHPBB (and BBPress for Beneath).

I registered for a free demo for IPB, and I found the experience somewhat pleasing. I had a few "oh cool" moments and such. Then, when I came back to do something on the GoW phpBB3 install, I thought to myself, "Wait, why did I want to change forum software? I like phpBB."

Yeah, the price is totally wrong. I didn't really like vB when I tried a nulled (read: illegal) install back in version 3.0.0. I imagine a lot has changed, but I still remember the bad experience.

well, I /did/ say, "maybe" not =P But, if people like phpbb more, I'm definitely with that. =P

(note, the indecision in my previous post was due to discussing with my fiance, the pros and cons =P)

I'm happy with phpBB, but mostly because I like free stuff. :P

That said, the (extra) features in IPB would allow us to do some fancy stuff like blogs and a gallery, as well as easier user permissions. I'm not entirely convinced that it's worth the time, effort, and money to switch though.
