"Find" function?

"Find" function?

Does anyone know if Blender has a Find or Search function?

I'm working on another age and am getting an error on export. It says the object "Cylinder" does not have a material. It started happening when I imported tachzusamm's tree model. In object mode, when I "Select All," it is only selecting 11 of 12 objects. I have all layers turned on - so it should be selecting all objects in all layers. I'm assuming "Cylinder" is number 12. ;)

This is the first time I've encounter a problem like this - an am wondering if there is a Search option to find this bugger?

Oh - sorry.

Yes, there's a cylinder in the tree model. I used it to determine a good height of the tree, because the cylinder is 6 units in height, as an avatar is, you know.
Seems I forgot to remove it when uploading.

What happend to you is a general problem; better than importing the whole .blend file is to use "File -> Append or Link" which gives you much more freedom in chosing *which* objects to import from a blend file.
(Sidenote: If you want to import more than one object (or material, mesh, group, ...), there is no need to repeat the process for each object; simply select multiple objects with a right mouse click, and there you go)

Besides that, when you import a blend file, it places copies of most of the stuff in an additional, automatically added scene.
So you should look if there is an additional scene.

Finally, you can use the outliner window to see ALL objects you have - even those switched invisible - using the eye icon (apply/revert visibility in Blender).
Just in case you don't know: The outliner is that what you see on top right hand side of the original Model_00131.blend file (the tree model).
This outliner windows has a search function. ;)

Do you have more than "some few" objects named "Cylinder"?

Thanks! Worked like a charm. It did also give me an error for a missing texture. I added a texture and "re UV-Mapped"it. The material color is showing but not the texture. I'm going to try exporting the tree as an obj - then re-import and texture it.

I really like your model, and it could potentially save me a lot of time - so I hope this works. :)

Edit: Ok, the texture's showing! Good to go :D

Edit #2: BTW, thanks for the tip about the Outliner window. So far, I've only delved into the modelling part of Blender - so I'm literally learning new things everyday!

Btw, the outliner window has a search function - just saw it right now when tracking down your problem, lol.

Hehe, really nice; seems the tree is growing... um I mean getting children. :D

Blasted trees, you leave 2 of them alone for a few minutes and before you know it you have tons of them. :lol:

That's a temple in the background. You'll be seeing several iterations of it throughout the ages I've "discovered."
