GUI Ineraction

Postby andylegate » Mon Jun 21, 2010 5:14 pm

I don't suppose anyone has played with this and figured it out yet?

I'm not talking about the simple GUI pop up for like notes and pictures, but things a bit more complex like Telescopes, The pellet scopes, the gun on Teledahn. Specifically, you click on something for a GUI pop up, and then be able to have a button that you can click on to make something else happen.

So far most of my experiments with this have met with utter failure. :?

The telescope like in Bevin is a custom GUI that you can activate in any age. You just need to create the correct parameter's for the telescope to be activated. It's python script is xTelescope.py. The Gui specifically is packaged within the GUI.age under the name telescope.

For other scope like guis in the game they all use newly created guis with specific python scripting designed for them.

Doesn't Eder Licinius have a telescope that is draggable just like the one in Bevin?
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure all GUIs use Python scripting. So if you tried to make a GUI work without that I'm not surprised at the failure.

xTelescope is actually quite cool since it has its own SDL that keeps track of who is using the scope. Too bad Blender builders cannot use it because it needs a multistagebehmod which the main PyPRP trunk version does not support. *Mutters "lucky bastards..."*

Yes it does. It uses the xTelescope.py like the one in Bevin.

Multistagebehmods are however in experimental branches within the svn. Merging them take little effort as they're pretty self contained and have been coded for awhile even in the trunk. They just needed the correct export code to make them work.
