Subterranean Restorations needs Modelers!

If you feel like you're up to the challenge of building your own Ages in Blender or 3ds Max, this is the place for you!

Subterranean Restorations needs Modelers!

Postby Whilyam » Wed May 26, 2010 6:39 pm

Hello!

The Restoration proceeds. As the concepts and stories of our Ages come together, the group now needs people to fill by far the most extensive job: building the Ages and areas we want to release. From the mournful gardens of Tonaisem and the mysterious facade of Reanodoyha to the clocks and the water bottles. Modelers make our concepts and stories become tangible. Applicants should be able to use Blender to export Ages for Uru and should provide pictures of some examples. As always, if you are interested please PM me here.

On a side note, Whilyam - what was the role of the Explorer Restoration Center age with regards to the Subterranean Restorations? Was it to be strictly a showcase of items 'discovered' in other ages? Or could it also contain linking books to 'restored' ages (like the ones you're describing)?
Can we rebuild it? Yes, we can - here's how.

That was a spin off from SR when Jennifer left (she had worked on the project, didn't want me working on it, etc.). I don't remember much of what its purpose was. I think it was an Age SR had supposedly written to house artifacts found in the Museum of Art. This was at a time when we were doubtful the Museum would ever become reality. As the Museum is currently being modeled, the ERC can no longer serve that purpose.

The ERC was Jennifer's project, wasn't it...? I thought the only relationship between SR and the ERC team was the fact that Jen was on both teams and wanted both teams working on both projects (which wasn't going to happen).

Other than that there is no IC connection, is there?

Just to bring this up. We still need modelers. We have some excellent concepts just waiting for a good modeler.

There are a slew of available modelers listed on the Registered List of Writers. Although they may not be actively reviewing the forums, you could try sending PM's to alert them to this project.

Since our ideal person is one who can donate lots of time to working on the project, we're focusing on those who can take the time to read the forums.

Whilyam, as soon as I learn Blender, I'd be glad to help. Don't ask me when that might be, but definitely after 10/15/2010.

I've got an idea for an age I've been creating in my head, but I need to get my Blender sea legs first. I've taken the first step and downloaded Blender, although it's already been replaced by the newest version. I am impressed with the skill of the experienced age builders and would like to get there at some point.

A point I should make (that Chuckles' post reminded me about) is that if you're coming to the group with an Age idea you really want to see made, don't bet on it. Propose it and, if we really like it and can spare the time, we might try. But don't join thinking the group can help you build your Age (that's what the guild is for).

Just to make it clear, I know that's not what Chuckles was saying. I just want to make sure I cover the necessary bases on this.
