What I love most about the Cyan tool is how you can go for months thinking there is a 100% hard-coded limitation in the Plasma engine, then you read one line on the GoW forums and the opposite is revealed to be true.

Basically, I'm messing around with Soft Volumes at the moment as a possible answer to some lighting conundrums I've been having. I'm not entirely sure how they work, though.

The following far-less-finished-than-I-wanted release is HERE!!

Lots of stuff missing from this release. I slacked off. :( But this is THE FIRST RELEASE OF LLANTERN FOR PROPER CONSUMPTION.

IT IS IN MOULA FORMAT. YOU WILL NEED TO CONVERT IT IF YOU USE POTS.

I humbly request that somebody gets the files sorted for Drizzle. I don't know how you go about doing that!

(To dispel any RP quesitons before they arise. In the somewhat placeholdery journal are two characters. The writer is "Nye Morgan" and the mentioned Chris is "Chris Sigismund".)

EDIT: Contrary to my previous post, as I've not finished the graphics of Llantern's first area, this is not a complete first area. For example, the texture of all the books is the same, and borrowed from Phil's Relto!

Great, I look forward to checking it out once it is ready for Drizzle. It has been fun watching your age come together.

I'm determined to get around to learning age building, as I've got some ideas for an age I would enjoy. I've gone as far as downloading Blender, so I still have quite a way to go. :D :P

Don't worry. This age looks alredy freaking sweet, event if where would be no future release ;)

Yes there a couple of things that will be needing polish (like not making "sand" foot step region everywhere, including on stone, and inside house ;) ), but they blend in the face of thery good looking of this age.

On site note: consider moving table inside house a little bit. It's a little frustating to not be able reach the wall table.

A couple of very minor problems

1: Dock Linking Book Pedestal: Even with the shield closed you still get a hot spot that is click-able, and it does link you to the Dock
2: Within the Shack: Would it please, be possible to get a smaller Table. It is just not possible to examine the bulletin board nor the books on the table itself, with the table at it's current size.

Thanks for the comments so far! :D

The bug with being able to link with the pedestal closed will be easy to fix - I simply need to include activation/deactivation logic to the responder for the button opening the pedestal!

The table is actually pretty awful and I'm more than happy to replace it.

Okay, it's on Drizzle/UAM and the UAM shard now! By the way, there's a link on the left of here: http://dusty.homeunix.net/wiki/Main_Page, to "Upload an Age" which leads here: http://dusty.homeunix.net/upload/ This is the best way to submit an Age, as I am automatically notified. (I don't read the forums very often.)

It is however also a good idea to announce the release of the age on the forums, so that other age repositories (like the Deep Island dataserver) can be updated. - other Shard admins are not automatically notified by Dustin's system.
I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.

Actually, that's not true. This list of updates is always here: http://dusty.homeunix.net/uru-ages/uam.updates.htm, and that page also has a handy link to the manual downloads here: http://dusty.homeunix.net/uru-ages/uam.status.xml It is considerably simpler and more complete for them to just check that page regularly, or of course just check Drizzle for the updates. It only takes a few seconds for admins to check there, whereas checking forums takes a long time and misses a bunch of Ages. Plus the UAM list has the converted, "all ready for Uru" version. It is a waste of time for shard admins to check anywhere else.

Of course, feel free to post on the forums too if you like! It can be handy to have a thread if you're looking for feedback.

Thanks Dustin, I'll make use of that in the future.

I'm currently at home for Christmas, far away from my Llantern files, but I've still been thinking!

I'll be taking the feedback given here and putting out a quick V3 which will address the problems, some time around the tenth of January. V4 will probably see a good amount of work put into the journal, sounds and details. I'm keeping true to the plan I made, not to move on from the beach area until I'm happy with it!
