Not a fan of having a huge amount of subforums myself, makes the board look mess and is difficult to keep track of what is posted where.

I'm trying to further my point, but it looks like that's not working. Let's try this angle: if this project is to move forward (and it looks like at least a couple people are interested) a sub forum would be welcome for intra team communication as well as open guild discussion. Right now we have a 35 pages long topic, which isn't the easiest way to manage a project. Just MHO though.

That brings up an good question about the legal/license status about that topic. As far as I understand the current licensing scheme allow us to touch code; not content.. And althought the nexus python .pak files are essentially code they are not part of the GPL'd package. Plus if someone wants to tackle the GUI that'll fall under 'content' too. Bringing us into a grey area again. Is that correct? (not that I mind; just trying to make sure I understand all the issues at hand here).

Actually, all the Python is also under the GPL, along with the .sdl, .fni, and .age files. (see this repo: https://github.com/H-uru/moul-scripts ) =)

While the other stuff is definitely grey-area, we've been operating in a grey area for a /very/ long time now, there's no reason to have a sudden change of heart now.

Good point Aloys.

But if we see it like that. (From a legal point) No Cyan Age could be used on one of our servers at all. (Except we insure that the ages are actually taken from the client side and insure that every client has his own "bought" copy of the game (using bought, even though the game is for free))

Anyhow. Me and Nathan2055 are thinking of some other ways of communication, I can pm you if you want... Therefore we are okay with Hoikas decision.

The public discussion about it can still be continued here, even though it seems that there was more people posting here, that weren't interested, than people that were, ;).

Let's try out PyPrP 2 some more, up until now I am really liking it. My design is almost ready to be put into Uru for the first time, if I find out how to actually link to it in-game (Yes I will have to read the wiki on that one again) I will post a screenshot. That will probably be my Sat Night.

Damn, I missed that important info..
So that means that under that license we can basically add (or change) anything we want to an existing Cyan Age through the use of Pages+Paks+SDLs? I can't believe I missed that part.. :x I just had a good look at the OpenUru wiki and I don't see that bit about the license mentionned anywhere.

Yeah; but I like to know which rules I'm infringing on.. :P

Yes, I agree. It's very hard to find that "one post about blah" or "that one picture that showed how to blah".

Actually, me and Fuchida were considering contacting OpenURU's Project OSCAR. I know everyone is currently mad at OpenURU because of how their handling things, I think we should give them a chance.

Interesting. So we can modify URU Ages through scripts? Hmm...

OK, I know this has died down a bit, but here is the progress report:

Fuchida, Andy Legate, and me have been communicating privately on the project. We have already built a basic blend file, and Andy was thoughtful enough to let us use his Nexus pedestal model. The Age will include two rotary-type book storage and dispensing units, a book drop type Age downloader system, some tables and chairs, two imagers (one for Age releases, and one for shard admins to use, special thanks to dendwaler for the imager model), and a Nexus pedestal in the back.

How is the upgraded Nexus GUI coming along?

Don't mind me, just clarifying - other than OU being nice enough to lend OSCAR a subforum on their website, there's no link beyond common community ties between OU and OSCAR. (BTW, always happy to help with projects, as long as you're legally in the right to upload them somewhere for everyone to access! Glad to see this FINALLY going somewhere.)

Well, I didn't know about OSCAR until Fuchida told me. However, they do seem to be busy planning their city area. We aren't sure whether to contact them or not.

Fuchida also seems to really want to do the project through Google Groups. I still wish we had some kind of a discussion forum (it doesn't necessarily have to be at GoW) but I really just want the project to start moving. And I'm still not sure whether the upgraded GUI or a new Nexus is better :? :? :? .
