Migrating Ages from 1.6 to 2.0

If you feel like you're up to the challenge of building your own Ages in Blender or 3ds Max, this is the place for you!

Migrating Ages from 1.6 to 2.0

Postby ZURI » Sun Sep 25, 2011 1:56 pm

I'm attempting to move an age that started development with the old plugin to the new one. Being unsure of exactly what I need to do - I started by removing the book, alcscript, init, text files - as well as the link-in point.

Then, I removed all bounds from objects. Saved, then opened the file in 2.59 with PyPRP2. Blender opened the file fine and everything looks exactly the same as in 2.49b. I went through the steps Branan laid out in his Youtube video to create the age, add bounds, link-in point, etc.

Everything appeared ok, but Blender crashes when exporting. I haven't been following these threads very carefully - as I have several ages in progress with the old plugin. Heh, figured I'd get around to learning the new one sooner or later.

Is there a thread that covers this topic in-depth? If so, I apologize for bringing it up here. The age in question is very, very new - and only recently had any PyPRP stuff added to it "a few days ago."

Do I have to redo all the textures in 2.59? Just curious. I was hoping it would be simple to pick up where I left off - then continue with the new version. However, if it's not possible..... then, well, it is what it is. If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd be very grateful. :)

Whilyam had similar crashing issues when he tried to migrate ages to PyPRP2. IIRC, I didn't have a chance to track down the problem since I wasn't able to get the source blend. I've been fairly busy recently with stuff but if you want to post or pm me the blend file I can see if I can find the problem.
Currently getting some ink on my hands over at the Guild Of Ink-Makers (PyPRP2).

Have you found out what caused the problems?
It is of interest for me, because I´m thinking of migrating my own ages as well :)

I haven't heard back from Lontahv about it yet. As he said, he's pretty busy. If/when he finds a solution (or the problem for that matter), I'll put the results here. :)
