Need Help Modeling a Vine

Postby Karkadann » Wed Dec 28, 2011 9:33 am

Im looking for an old vine preferably something that looks so old its grown into a tree, a grape vine or something fruit bearing would be good.
Does any one know where I can find a model of one for Max, a web site or something perhaps a tutorial that I can use to help me make one?

Thanks

Not sure, because i am not a max user.
But,
Maybe you need the IVy plug_in for 3dMax

http://www.google.nl/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=i ... k5ltBVlKCQ

It lets grow "shapes" following curves.
as can be seen here on youtube with a.....Vine :D :

Those wonderfull Worlds are called " Ages" , because that is what it takes to build one.

Wow, if your into Max you GOTTA check this one out, they have a stand alone program you can export from with a obj file or something and Dendwaler found some plugins for Max 7 and 8

Thank you thank you

One question, how do you export leaves to look like leaves and not flat boxes
Never mind I forgot about all the options with alpha channels, Tif and Png

It works in Blender too. I've already used such an ivy plant in a Blender-generated Age some while ago.
But keep in mind that large plants introduce lots of geometry. So unless you're able to get a close-up view of the plant from your avatar, it might be better to do a render of the finished plant and put a decal in the Age. A combination of both approaches can work as well. ;)
