I understand completely... I'm tangled up in trying to finish my semester at school, and it somehow manages to get harder every week :\

Ok I'm playing catch up here I had links to some of the wiki pages on doing various tasks with Blender 2.49 the version I have been using since I started I realised there was something I had forgotten how to do so I dropped back to the wiki and it's all changed. Fortunately the bit I was after was in one of Andy's tutorials so I was able to pick that up.

Is there an archive of the stuff that was not Andy's because I know there's a couple of bit's I did not make a hard copy of. Mainly those bit's that were updated after I made my hard copy.

I mean I just know how you hate people re-writing the past Adam (personal experience). :(

I am not expecting this to be put back I am just wondering if there's a digital copy somewhere I can ftp/access/retrieve so I can revisit and turn ito a PDF.

If that means I have to restore a localhost version of the old wiki that requires some hand to hand combat so be it.

I am aware that this is a little off topic actually a lot off topic but the old wiki was my refrence book and it's gone somebody pulled down the old library and I'm kind of upset I was not able to withdraw and copy lessons I have been pointing people to for years.

If push comes to shove I'll ocr my hard copies and try and figure out what's missing so I'm not looking for everything.

Blender's a bit of a climb to learn and it's disapointing to look back from the top of the cliff and find that someone has pulled out all the points in the route you used to get there.

I don't think I touched any of the PyPRP tutorials... Do you know what the article in question was?

They may well be in there I just know my bookmarks in Firefox no longer find them so they were trashed.

I have just found most of this out today and I'll need to go dig in my hard copies but I know there was on on "Your first age" and there was a list of about 30 in a side menu thats no longer there or at least not where I expect to find it.

Yes I understand the desire posibly need to refresh things I used to tell people go to GoW Wiki and follow your nose there was there on the first page PyPRP Getting started I would exxpect to lead me to those tutorials now if this is intended for tutorials for PyPRP2 then thats fair so why is there not a link to the old PyPRP stuff ON THE FIRST PAGE.

I dare say with a bit of digging I may well find all the old tutorials in their pristine glory but I have to think about pointing Noob's to this It's hell getting them to consider age writing.

The Cost of Studio3dMax has them running for cover and the new copies of Blender have issues with alcscript you can't address with Blender 2.5 or at least so I'm given to understand.

Take it on board I'm probably just being an oldtimer that's resistant to change and is pissed because the've moved the doors and built a new foyer and I can't find ANYTHING it's like going to my old favourite supermarket and they've moved the Milk somewhere and I can't find it. "IT USED TO BE NEXT TO THE DOOR".

Just put a link on that first page that says Doing things the old way with Blender versions before 2.5

Those old methods my be getting archaic but they work and the ages may not port easily into MOSS but they work with URU CC you can squirt them into your home version and make sure your walls meet at the edges and ladders work. I've got three ages on Deep Island and they were all built using Blender 2.45.

So where abouts have you hidden the MILK! :D

I'm sorry about all of this mess. I started reworking the Wiki to make it more accessible, but I was meanwhile promoted to GM, so I've been a bit busy with that too. :|
That new Tutorials page is for the updated tutorials that are yet to come. The old ones are still there, the page just doesn't link to it. I couldn't find any page like this, actually, which is why I created it.
Actually, the only way I know of finding these articles (and that was before I started working on the wiki) is by using Special:Allpages. This was what prompted me to do some cleanup, to make it easier to navigate. All the old tutorials are still there. For example, the PyPRP First Age is here.
My plan for the next weeks is to create a consolidated PyPRP:Getting Started tutorial combining previous information into one, easily accessible article that's compact and concise.
So I'm sorry about all this, I truly am. Would you mind telling me what bookmarks you have that are broken? I can maybe restore those while the transition is in progress.

@ J'Kla May be the next link helps you out.

Use http://www.guildofwriters.org/wiki/Special:AllPages to find the more advanced tutorials.

For transparent objects use http://www.guildofwriters.org/wiki/Proper_transparency_for_leaves_and_grass
In this tutorial the problem with transparencies is solved by Tachzusamm.
You have to replace prp_MatClasses.py yourself , because the old PyPRP 1.6 is still not updated with the new file.
This should have been done a long time ago, because it makes the suggested workarounds (in another tutorial page) obsolete.
Those wonderfull Worlds are called " Ages" , because that is what it takes to build one.

Watch my latest Video Or even better..... watch the Cathedral's Complete Walkthrough made by Suleika!

Thanks for the attention as an old fart who dislikes change and conflict its gratifying. :)

My broken links have gone the way of the world I have so much crap atatched to links that when they break I bin them and go looking for new ones and thats what started this escapade.

a link to

http://www.guildofwriters.org/wiki/PyPR ... _Tutorials

Labled as I said doing things the old way with blender versions before 2.5

I also wish to publically apollogise for my earlier rant It probably was out of order the wiki had become untidy and I do like the new look even if I have difficulty finding anything. :-)

I have to say there are days now when I have difficulty finding my own arse with both hands and a map. :(
