Awhile ago I had a really good Idea for a computer game, that was partially inspired by MYST, Jumanji, and a few other things... so tell my what you think, and if you'd buy it (not that I'm anywhere near making it, seeing as Python drives me nuts, and right now it's more of a distant goal)
Ok, the screen fades in, it's in first person, the same exact controls as realMYST, except the cursor is different. You find yourself in front of a large Mansion/castle in the middle of the night, behind you is a intricatly designed victorian Gate (so you can't leave the area) and to your left and right, are trees (that you can go through to a cirtain point. Now, the front of the castle has a door, and two large towers with a door to the right and left of the front door. In the left door is a dark room, with no lights, and a cozy Fire crackling in the fireplace. to one side is a bed, the room was obviously the servant's quarters... but there's no sign of anyone in sight, leaving you to wonder who started the fire. after looking around a bit, you find a key, which will open up the front door, but before going into it, you decide to go into the tower to the right of the front door. in there is a large pool table, aparently some sort of billiard room. on the wall to the right of the door you walk in, is annother fireplace, noticably larger and more visually pleasing. above the mantle is the portrait of a man with a large white walrus mustache, wearing safari clothes. In front of the fireplace is a bearskin rug, and lining the walls are animal trophies. O, and I forgot to mention, both of these rooms have peaceful, and faint music playing, similar to the music in the original MYST game.
Now, when you walk in the front door, the floor is tiled, and there is an umbrella rack next to the door you just came through, as well as a welcome mat. there is a door on the walls left and right of you, one on the same wall that the door you came through is, and one door on the far wall of the entrance hall, facing you.
You walk through the door on the far wall, and enter a narrow dimly lit hallway. six doors line the walls, all but one is locked. Two double doors on the far right wall, is unlocked, and inside is an observatory. It is not like the MYST Island Observatory, but has a few rows of seats, like observatories at science museums, but a bit smaller, only a few rows of seats. The celing is speckled with twinkling stars, and peacfull music plays. in the front of the room is a podium, and a computer that apparently allows you to control the observatory "sky" unfortunatly, there is need of a password.
After exploring the mansion a bit more, solving some puzzles, and entering a few more rooms, you are able to unlock the second door on the left, in the hallway. When you open it you are amazed. an emerald green Jungle lies in front of you, in the door. ferns line a narrow dirt path. The strange thing is, it's broad daylight in the jungle, and only a few minutes ago you were outside, and it was the middle of the night. you slowly step into the jungle, your thought that it might be some sort of greenhouse is immediatly foiled when you see the vast blue sky above, and the sun filters through the emerald leaves, brilliantly. You turn around, expecting to see the door you just came out of, but to your astonishment, there is no door, or any sign of where you came from, at all! perplexed, you follow the path, and eventually find a house made of wooden planks. You step in, and find yourself in a room with wooden plank floors, and walls. The room is aparently some sort of "hunter's outpost" for, lining the walls are all sorts of hunting equitment, Trophies, and taxidermed animals, caught in mid pounce. on one wall is a rifle rack, and near it is a container of harpoons. There are baboon heads, tigers, lions, Ivory nicknaks, and to one side is (you guessed it) annother fireplace. in front of which is a large arm chair, and a cheetah skin rug in front of that. Jungle music plays (similar to channelwood bongo drums) on the far side of the room is a bed, and a few shrunken heads hang above it.
After you explore a bit more, solve a few puzzles, and unlock pieces of the storyline, you get back to the mansion (how you do this, I won't tell you) You finally unlock annother door in the hallway, finding yourself in a large midieval cathederal. (similar to York minster, in england) beautifull stained glass windows, and huge crucifixes can be seen. The music, is Awe filled, and similar to the gregorian chant. like before, you can't find the door you came through, so you look around a bit. You find a starcase that leads down to a crypt, with skelletons, and coffins. Like before, you eventually get back to the castle, and enter annother door. This time you're in a Funeral home. carpeted hallways, and grandfather clocks can be seen, and numerous room where a coffin is normally to be seen. In one room though, there IS an open coffin, you peer in and see the wrinkled face of an old man. around the coffin are flowered reathes, and bouquets of flowers. a very peacefull place.
Now, I won't tell any more, but I will tell you that there'll be a complelling and mysterious storyline, similar to MYST, some other places will include, a dungeon, a nature center, a creepy organ, an attic, and numerous fireplaces biggrin.gif what do you think would you play it if this game was made? If so, what would you rate it?

Re: An Idea for a game
Up until the jungle room it sounded like all adventure/mystery games out there.
Rooms as portals to other worlds give it an interesting, Myst-like appeal.
It would have to be visually and musically attractive for me though.

Reminds me mildly of a game called Morpheus where you were an arctic explorer who has stumbled upon a ship. As you walk around on the ship, just looking for a place to get warm, you soon find out that the ship is haunted. Each of the passengers on the ship has their own dream sequence that must be completed for you to finish the game which you access, more or less, by looking for clues around the ship and eventually entering each of their rooms.
