Re: Chogon: Creative Kingdoms
Since Marten posted that News two days ago at the Guild of Messengers Home Page, maybe Cyan did not have a choice but to confirm the news.
Me wonders what interface will be chosen ? After viewing the videos, the wii console might be the best choice. (if Nintendo is ready to dig deep in their bank account.
)
Me go choping for the best magic wand I can find after asking for Harry Potter's advice.

To me, this seems like a reassurance to Creative Kingdoms (as well as a subtle warning to the GoW) that Cyan Worlds is not going to tolerate any Cyan/Myst/Uru fan meddling with Magiquest Online material.
My first thought after hearing of the Magiquest Online deal was that it would add more ages to Drizzle's Simplicity tab. Now I think that would be a big mistake. (Big assumption warning!) I don't think Cyan cares too much about what the GoW has been doing with Uru since they've (presumably) made all the money they're going to make from it. Since Magiquest Online appears to be their most significant revenue generator, I don't think they'll sit back and let fans convert the material for offline play or allow Creative Kingdom's intellectual property to be played on rogue Uru Shards without taking substantial legal action.
Any thoughts?
Hi all,
Just to make clear Cyan Worlds' stance:
Cyan Worlds has *not* given any permission for the Drizzle program to the creator(s) of Drizzle or anyone using it or any derivative work of Drizzle. Also, we have not given permission to any shards that uses Drizzle derived data.
And we have not given any form of sanction to any shard outside of Cyan Worlds' control.
Thanks,
Chogon

Yeah, it is clearly CYA language for Creative Kingdoms' sake.

A thought occurs to me. If they're worried about content being pulled out of this new MagiQuest project by Drizzle, would that mean that it's being built in Plasma? I would hope this has no bearing on Cyan's promise to open source said engine.

Yes, it's done with Plasma. The licensing of the engine shouldn't bother the company at all, as it leaves the content unaffected.

You are so sure about that, Dustin - do you once again have more sources for your knowledge than we can imagine?

I prefer e-mails to "diafero arcor de" (after adding the at and the dot) over PMs.
