PyPRP Blender help

Post by MNOLG »

I used Blender 2.45 in conjunction with PyPRP 0.5, and finally I got my blend file to map to the correct textures. Unfortunately, although it knows which textures to map to, and has the textures packed within the blend file, it doesn't actually display the textures on the model. I have uploaded a blend file demonstrating this, and I want to know if anyone can fix the problem. http://www.mediafire.com/?tubbxunew9fb5yl

Hmmm, I love this Age !

Do you want the textures to show in the 3D window or in the render ? (I couldn't test the render, it usually crashes my computer).

If that's in the 3D window, you have to open the UV image editor, select an object and toggle editmode.
Use another window to go to the texture panel, and search the texture used for this mesh (for the island it's grsnground1_0_0@al&0.). You just need to copy this name.
Then you select all the vertices of your mesh, and in the UV image editor, you click on the button next to the image tab. In the pop-up menu, past the name of the texture and click on the image name under it.
It should show up correctly.
However, in case your mesh has more than 1 texture (for example the island), you'll need to select only the vertices on which the first texture is applied, load this texture in the UV editor, then select the vertices that uses the next texture, then load the second one, etc.

For the render, even though the textures won't show up in the 3D view, it should be rendered fine.

Oh, I'm not sure about this, but it might not be a good idea to share a file with Cyan's models and textures in it... even though it is a Blender file.

The only way to do it is to reassign all the textures? Isn't there just a better exporter?

Well, I once used a version that could, but when updating it it could no longer import the textures. So even being able to load it into Blender surprised me.
IIRC GPNMilano might know more about this.

Maybe you should try with older versions.

So GPNMilano has a version that could export textures better? How do I contact him?

*her.
Well, you could PM her from the GoW: Members->Find a member. From this status page you should find her e-mail address.
I don't know who else worked on this importer, but there should be other people who have older versions.

Maybe you could try all the other versions on the deep island tools (it seems you tried to find PyPRP 0.5 there, maybe some other versions on here might map the textures correctly).

In fact I'm no longer sure it could.
