I have to agree with D'nial here
There has been very little talk about RAWA's appointment to community manager being dubious. But that's what it is. We don't know how this will turn out.
I read through quite a few responses on here, and most of the negativity towards them right now seem to be based on assumptions. I read all of what you guys have to have said and these are a few highlights.
Chacal:
Chacal: What prp files exactly will we be able to serve on our open-source data server?
Chogon: I have no freaking idea, man. It's just me, RAWA, Rand and the cleaning lady right now and I'm part-time.
RAWA: One must follow the path of the pebble until the mountain tumbles down to the ocean and doubts its existentiality.
Rand: Cyan remains committed to providing the best user experience while maintaining our asset's added value in a proactive way.
Dhelayan:
Easy to answer: they had no other person to do it...
Hoikas:
He will make no more posts after this brief introductory period.
I'm not trying to call people out here, but the justifications for most of the disappointments here are based on assumptions. And reading his introduction was a little more suprising. Hell, I knew Cyan and others are under alot of pressure to push Magiquest out, but he's got four kids to watch at home, too? I'm suprised he had time to write as much as he did. And when you guys weren't expecting any response on this post, he did. Now that he did, you're saying he won't anymore. I'm just saying a man with enough drive to do a good job with Riven so much so that he created an entire language and culture, which I'm sure was a bit more than he was asked for, I put a little trust in the quality of his work with this. It doesn't seem like it would be in his character to slack off, and when he was told of this position, I don't think his first thought was that's what he was going to do (especially hearing about all the emails he was responding to during Riven). He's a human being, just like the rest of us after all.
I think we have a right to call him out if he's not doing a good job, but what I'm hearing right now is people calling him out for things, he hasn't even done yet. I mean you don't have to support him, but there's certainly no reason to antagonize him based on empty assumptions. I say we put them aside, and just wait and see how he does, because the fact of the matter is, none of us
know how he's going to do.
