But just out of curiousity how are you going to make it so we real explores don't get killed traversing this Age?

Bear in mind, that with just D'ni and their Writing, the spectrum of possibilities is enormous. The best example is Exicle: Sevedro was a native from another Age. At that point Cyan (or Presto, whoever was deciding on the story) could make him whatever: a shape-shifter, a horny red devil, a green blob, _anything_ was acceptable, becouse he was from another Age.
So again: why?
I don't want to just put him in this age with no clue how he got there, because he's by himself. and his personality is influenced by the fact that he's able to write ages. the way he writes is very different though, and I just finished writing one of his descriptive books you can actually read. also, he helps make the age what it is, without him it's not the same.

Just a friendly reminder: http://mystonline.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=15890
rule number 1: Writers must live within the D'ni limitations of Writing.
Just to have that in mind.

Every year I hope Cyan will reveal this was not an april fools' joke and they are indeed developping it.
A FPS game doesn't need to have violence or blood to be fun, a paintball game or something similar can be fun and non-violent.
Several years ago I had written a quick game design document for a Myst FPS CTF ('capture the flag') game where players were Achenar and Sirrus fanatics and would run around on Myst islands in robes and sandals hitting each other's head with linking books while trying to get the red/blue pages.

I guess though that I could change things a bit and say that explorers aren't "hurt" by these types of weapons.
I would really like to have capture the flag. It would work too, with the way the map is. Should still have a normal mode though, or else some things are completely pointless.
Edit: Actually, I think it should be just one gun with a low firerate (two shots a second or something), good accuracy, some recoil, maybe it should need to charge, and an efficient scope for long distances. The gun shoots these things that beam you back to the start. You should be invulnerable for about 3 seconds after respawning. There, not very violent.
